    Default 1996 rd350

Just bought an old RD350 with a Supertrapp IDS2 pipe.

    It is VERY LOUD.

I want to run in the fields at the back of the house but dont want to bother the neighbord too much.

Reference on the pipe is 027 2253. Is this the race inner or the quiet?

Also, will removing plates make it quieter. Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

Assuming you mean a DR 350 and not a Yamaha RD350 two stroke twin from the 70's.
That part number is for the body itself, not the core, you would have to remove the muffler from the bike or the end cap and disc to see inside to determine which core is in there. The quiet core has diverter tubes inside and is difficult to see thru. The race core is completely open, straight thru.
You could start there and see what you have, and yes removing discs will help to quiet it down.

I think its a race. Just looks like a tube with small holes in it.

How do I make it quieter?

How much is a quiet core?

    Thanks

The quiet core is about 125 bucks.
How many discs were in it? you may try fewer discs first before spending?

12 discs in there. Broke the end cap while trying to get it out. Not out all the way yet!!! but far enough to count the discs.

How much effect does each disc make?

Can I buy a new end cap?

    Many thanks for previous replies

12 is a lot for a stock bike? You could try taking 4 or even 5 out to try it and see how it works.
You broke the aluminum end cap? Or the end cap inside? or the screws holding it in?
When putting the screws in, always be sure to liberally apply anti-seize on the screw threads.
