    Default 2-1 turned blue.

    2-1 turned blue.
I have a 2012 ElectaGlide with a KN stage one air filter, dynojet power vision and the SuperTrapp 2-1 with 18 disks and closed end cap. The issue is after running at 80 loaded with a head wind the tip turned blue. Gas mileage took a big hit also compared to 70 or 75. It also started dripping oil out of the air cleaner. This was the first time hitting the super slab for a few thousand miles with this set up. Any thoughts group?

All chrome begins to discolor between 800-900 degrees Fahrenheit. Running HOT is usually associated with a lean running condition, however an overly rich condition can cause an incomplete fuel burn into the exhaust where the excessive heat is being generated.
Barring any other motor/drive train issues, your symptoms point towards the exhaust flow being too restrictive and/or the A/F ratio due to the fuel management system. 16-20 discs for a stock machine with a freer flowing air filter/intake would be a normal recommendation. Unless the discs were torqued down to much (10-15 INCH pounds) making the assembly more restrictive. A restrictive exhaust can be remedied by adding discs. If the condition persists the fuel management system would be the other variable to look at.

Update. Removed the original disc set (18). The discs were covered with a rust colored powder and when compared to a new set the gap between them was very small. They were installed with 15 in lbs as suggested. Replaced the 18 discs with 10 and an open end cap. Gas milage improved by 10 mpg at 80 mph. Did I get a bad set of discs? Did I over tighten them? Did the heat destroy them? Not sure, but running the power vision through the autotune to get a new tune.

Sounds like you needed the extra flow of the open end cap. Stainless steel turns a gold color when exposed to heat. Gap between discs should be .023".
