The Internal Disc Series slip-ons P/N 628-78088 for my 2011 FXDC has arrived. Are the retaining pins must be installed or is it not necessary, as long as the band clamp is properly tightened (according to the installation guide)?

I thought the same thing until the day I took it to the weld shop and watched how much wobbling and shaking goes on back there. Put the pin in absolutely!!

Now I am going to a hardware store to get an electric drill.
