    Cool 09 Supermegs/10 Touring Models

    Oh mighty guru,

Is it feasible to use supermegs for 2009 Harley touring models on a 2010 model? The '09 pipes seem to be everywhere but no '10s. Is it possible to use the smaller O2 sensors in the 18mm bungs with a bushing? Do the 12 mm sensors have to be located where they are in the '10s or would they work just as well in the location nearer the exhaust port like in the '09 pipes? I don't know enough about the sensor specs yet to know if the location is critical. Otherwise this seems like a simple work around.

The pipes look the same as th '09's, the only difference is the o2 bung size & location which is hidden behind the collector.

Installed the recently released supermeg on my 2010 FLHTP. Beautiful looking pipe as I've seen on all the previous ones I've installed, but was surprised that front head pipe heat shield hits the right floorboard, even with the collector snugged up as tight as I dared inward at the transmission mount.

Also the bungs don't allow the O2 sensors into the exhaust stream at the same depth as the stock header pipe, but that may be a non-issue I won't know until I start tuning it tomorrow.

Anyways, ordered some extenders to move my floorboards out an inch to solve the one issue, but am curious as to whether this is an issue with 2010s or just my bike.

We have had three other customers contact us in regards to close front heatshields on a 2009 & 2010 Bagger. At that point we brought in a 2010 Touring model and did another test fitment and came up with at least a 1/4" gap between the heatshield & floorboard (no issue).
    We've found two areas of possible causes for the tight fitment;
    1) NON-use of the conical type port gaskets (which are more forgiving and seal better).
    2) Incorrect installation of the P-clamp on the transmission bracket.

I did use the stock, conical gaskets, but I too am thinking it's how the head pipes are sitting in the exhaust port and will inspect those by pulling the headers off when I get my floorboard extensions and verify the depth. Those stock gaskets are very unforgiving when it comes to seating them in the exhaust ports. Thanks for the feedback on fitment.

Couple of years years later - it looks like a Supermeg 2:1 did become available for the 2010 vintage FLHTK

From another thread it looks like P/N 828-71578 has 18mm bungs close to the exhaust ports / in the Header down pipes.

Questions 1. Is this correct? 18mm in the downpipes?

    2. The mounting bracket supplied is designed to fit 2010 (6 speed box) Models?

There is also a part number 828-71580 which looks like is for 2010 model year with 12mm Collector Mount bungs

I use header mounted 18mm O2s So want the 578s but as they are listed for earlier models am concerned the supplied brackets for fitment are wrong.

    Many thanks for your help

828-71578 will work fine on your 2010, bracket is the same. It has the 18mm O2 port closer to the port.
    Thank you!
