1983 Yamaha TT600K
I'm looking to redo my whole dirt bike. I'm going to install a 673cc big bore, raise the compression, cam, port the head, possibly add larger valves, maybe larger carbs, etc. You know, just a SMALL upgrade! This bike will be used on backroads, creek beds, open fields, and the such. The factory carb setup is a round slide 38mm primary and a secondary that is 38mm with a vaccum round slide AND a mechanical butterfly. I want to replace the weird carb setup with a pair of regular carbs. I'm thinking maybe a pair of Edelbrock flat slides. With all the upgrades, should I up-size the carbs? If so, how much, 40mm?

That carb set up was a little weird, but it worked fairly well. Don't just look at carb size however when thinking about upgrade-big diff between how the round slide and the vaccum work in comparison to regular flats.
Best thing maybe, get on Thumper Talk website-lots of motorheads on their and all specific to singles.
