I just recently installed fatshots 2:2 on my 08 VRSCDX orginally w/ 12 discs and closed end caps (only other mod is K&N). Ran fine but I want it to make it louder. I was going to order the open end caps but today, just for curiosity's sake, I removed all discs and closed end cap and just put on the decorative cover. Obviously it's much louder but strangely, it seems to run fine (I did a quick 10 mile test ride). It does seem to run just a little hot w/ some decel popping on a hard decel. Again, other than that it seems to run just fine.

Here's my question: What am I hurting if I leave it setup like this? Can I burn valves? From reading brian's previous responses it seems that this setup is equivalent to 24-26 discs + closed end cap. Is it even possible for bikes to run this setup without a retune?

These are probably silly questions...but so what. No one here knows me..:p

Heat and popping on decel indicate a lean running condition. Internal engine damage is likely if left unchecked. I would suggest seeking a local tuner with a good reputation.
